Clam Linguini With Penne Pasta Recipe

This is a recipe that is good for any occasion, lent or any other holiday. It is very easy to make and if you are good at multi-tasking then you can have it ready in about 30 minutes and on the table ready to eat.

You will need to pick up some items at your local grocery and you are ready to make this meal.

Ingredient list:

Snows canned clams enough for 15 ounces which should be about 5 cans.

Clam juice about 26 ounces, you will have quite a bit from the canned clams but buy a bottle or two of the juice to have on hand.

Butter 2.5 ounces of unsalted butter

Olive oil 2-3 ounces

1 Teaspoon of chili flakes

1 Teaspoon of tarragon

1 – 2 Teaspoon of Garlic powder, make sure not to use garlic salt. You could use fresh garlic just make sure to use the olive oil to sweat it out a bit to get it to bloom before adding it in.

Corn starch about a half an ounce of it to thicken the Linguini Sauce

Better than bouillon Clam Base, it is made by Superior Products and it is a Great product! You must have this to make this dish. If you can not find this base if you are able to find another type of base you can substitute it just as long as it is a fish / mollusk base.

2 ounces of Heavy Cream to add just before serving

First you will get your salted water on the stove on high heat, getting it ready to add your pasta after it reaches a rolling boil.

Second you will get your sauce ready to fire it up. Open the can of clams and drain the clams, but save the juice. You will want to rinse the clams to remove any dirt left in them. If you have cheesecloth or a coffee filter / strainer you will want to run the clam juice through it to remove any excess dirt from the juice. You will add all of your ingredients except the clams into the large sauce pan. You will want to have a whisk handy and make sure that the starch and the base are dissolved.

** If you are choosing to use fresh garlic instead of garlic powder use the olive oil in the sauce pan and over low heat add the garlic until you start smelling the rich garlic flavor. Do not burn it or it will be bitter, and make a poor sauce. You will then do as stated above.

Once you have all in the pan you are ready to start heating the sauce. you will want to add your pasta to the boiling water at this point and keep an eye on it because the sauce and pasta should be ready about the same time. Start the sauce on a medium to medium high heat. You will want to keep stirring the sauce until it gets close to a nice simmer but below boiling. The starch should start to thicken the sauce and you will turn off the heat when it does thicken. You should check your pasta at this point it should be very close to being ready. When ready drain your pasta and add to a large serving dish and add the sauce over the pasta. And serve. You could garnish with fresh parsley, and make a nice bread or dinner roll with some garlic butter. Enjoy.

An ideal raw foods detox program means that you eat a diet based exclusively on fresh, uncooked fruits and vegetables. You can eat all kinds of fresh fruit, all kinds of fresh vegetables, all kinds of freshly made (not pasteurized) juices, all types of sprouts, dried fruit, all herbal teas and small amounts of cold pressed oils such as olive oil, flax seed oil or hemp seed oil.

There is a difference between a standard raw vegetarian diet and a raw detox one and it’s an important one. During a program of raw detox you do not eat any nuts and seeds because of how they slow down the digestive process. The only kind of seed that is acceptable during a raw food detox is flax seed powder. The high fiber found in flax actually does support easy bowel evacuation. Adding flax can be beneficial to your program.

What I’ve described above is the standard way to go about detoxing with raw foods. There are three other ways as well. First, you can consume only freshly pressed juices for a certain period of time. Second, you can try monoeating – this involves eating only one food (usually watermelon, or perhaps grapes) at a time for a few days. Finally you could go with a blended diet based only on fresh raw food soups and smoothies. These 3 varieties are usually best left for people trying their second raw food detox.

How long to stay on a raw detoxification program depends on your lifestyle, health and age. You need to consider all of them before diving into any thing. And in fact, if you are particularly unhealthy or have a serious disease, you should really talk to a competent doctor before proceeding on any kind of a detox program.

My personal experiences have shown me that juice detoxing is fine for most people from 1-7 days. A blended food approach is great for up to 21 days and a regular raw food detox is fine for a month or so. These are just general rules and you may want to modify them to fit in with your own schedule.

Before going any further, consider one final thing. Creating great health through a raw food detox takes time. It’s not a magic overnight solution to all your problems. Many people expect it to be so, but you’ve got to be prepared to put in the work with diligence and persistence. If you do, you’ll be rewarded.

Once Again The Blessing Being United With Israel

What is it that thrills my heart to see our President Trump meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu? It goes beyond joy to see these two leaders meeting, showing great respect for each other. I am nearly brought to tears, to see and hear the dialogue between our two leaders. Why is that?

The hope of some peace in the world comes to the top of my mind. That Palestine will ever give up on the idea of annihilation of Israel is to me a fantasy. Palestine will be an eternal enemy, and we are not likely to see peace between those two nations in my lifetime nor the foreseeable future. It would take more than a miracle, perhaps an act of God! Of course that’s possible, and it would be beyond a miracle.

It seems like positive vibes, for lack of a better term, are in the air as the United States once again is on solid ground with Israel. Prime Minister Netanyahu has always been a hero, and is no less so now. President Trump is no less so which will be even more evident as time moves forward for the United States.

Along with Canada, Australia, and Great Britain as allies, the strength of these five nations, plus alliances in the mid-East, is strong throughout the free world. How this may impact dealings with Russia, China, Iran and N. Korea will be of great interest. That those four countries would ever form any sort of close, warm, meaningful alliance is what will make the difference in the long run.

So from the beginning of his first month in office, our President has solidified relations with those nations it is best to maintain strong ties with, not just for the United States but for all concerned. Assisting and encouraging Great Britain to continue with their exit from the European Union, cementing relations with both Canada and Australia, and now Israel offers a very strong alliance worldwide. At least that’s how it looks.

Based on comments President Trump’s success so far may have to do more with areas that have nothing to do with Washington D.C., which may be like another nation unto itself when it comes to getting things done. Politics is never as friendly at it seems on the surface, and so far the feeling is the chill that exists in the northeast, has found a home in the Capitol.

But the chill felt between Israel and the U.S. for the last eight years is gone! Melted away in an instant, and it was obvious to all onlookers. A vocal commitment voiced on both sides to work towards goals that impact both nations, such as dealing a death blow to ISIS, deflating the nuclear threats from Iran, and restoring some elements of control and normalcy in Syria with the interest to reduce the influence from Russia.

The relation with Israel has always carried a very special meaning, since it was the U.S. who first recognized that country as an independent Sovereign Nation. It has not always been smooth sailing with the various administrations, but that with the Trump administration may prove to be exceptional and positive.

Cooking the Good Stuff – Dungeness Crab

Crab is a wonderful treat to bring to the dinner table thanks to its mild flavor and delicate meat. Dungeness crab is an especially enjoyable variety found along the Western coast of the United States. When cooking Dungeness crab it is important that you do so in a fashion that will not compromise the unique flavor of the meat. The best way to cook crab is to boil it but the biggest choice is whether you will use live or flash frozen crab. The level of freshness is obviously better with the live crab but most crabbers flash freeze their catch right after removing it from the water, locking in the taste.

When cooking Dungeness crab to begin, bring a large pot of water to a boil over a medium to high heat source. You should put in about half a cup of salt for every gallon of water you put in the pot to add a little extra flavor to the crab. Once the water is boiling place the crabs you wish to prepare in the water and cover the pot. If you are working with live crabs then you may wish to put them in the freezer for around half an hour before placing them in the water. The time in the freezer slows down the crabs and puts them in a sort of daze that makes them easier to handle and prevents them from being fully conscious when they are submerged in the water.

Cooking Dungeness crab means completely submerging the crabs in the water and having four to five inches of extra water above them in the pot. Allow the crab to cook for about fifteen minutes for average sized ones and ten to twelve minutes if they are a bit on the smaller side. Large crab should be allowed about twenty minutes to cook in order for them to be thoroughly cooked. It is best to serve them nice and hot with melted butter, letting the naturally great flavor the crab shine through unencumbered. Simple and straightforward, preparing Dungeness crab means having a high class meal ready in only a few minutes.

We may no longer have the time, but our need to detoxify is greater than ever.

Today, toxins from every direction bombard our bodies. Poisons pollute the air we breathe. They seep into the water we drink and infiltrate the food we eat. There’s just no avoiding them. In 1993 over 271 million pounds of toxic chemicals (phosphoric acid, ammonia, sulfuric acid, methanol etc.) were dumped into our water supply. Agribusiness uses 33 times more pesticides today than 50 years ago. The simple truth is your filtering and eliminative organs were not designed to process such a heavy load. Eventually they become overworked, sluggish and toxins begin to accumulate throughout the entire body.

Staying inside won’t work either. The EPA reports that levels of pollutants inside buildings can be as much as 100 times greater than outdoor pollution levels. Time magazine, December 21,1998, in an article titled This Place makes Me Sick, reported on the escalating problem known as sick-building syndrome, a disease of modern architecture in which sealed, energy conserving buildings have become breeding grounds for some particularly insidious stuff. These include out-gassing of paint, vinyl flooring, insulation and furniture; chemical contaminants oozing from copy machines, fax machines and laser printers; molds, fungi, bacteria and dusts belching from dirty air ducts and inadequately maintained air conditioners. It’s enough to make you sick…and it does.

But if this toxic monster seems unbeatable, don’t despair. Therapeutic, internal cleansing can take the load off your eliminative organs and free them up to do their work. Remember that these poisons are hiding all over your body, in all the soft tissues, organs and systems. Avoid the mistake of concentrating solely on the colon. A colon cleanse will do you some good, but improvement will be marginal. The large intestine is only one of your body’s five channels of elimination, albeit the most obvious one. The lungs, lymph system, kidneys and skin each have crucial roles to play in the cleansing process, and you’ll need to address them all to get maximum results. The liver, the primary filter for the blood stream, will almost certainly need detoxifying. However, unless it is especially weak or toxic, cleansing the liver should wait until you’ve lowered the toxic load on the rest of your body.

Fortunately, modern herbalists have formulated some excellent cleansing products you can use to great effect, without putting your life on hold. Keep in mind, different herbs target different organs and systems. A cleansing product’s design should be comprehensive enough to do a thorough job.
